Bruce A. Rendina was a successful real estate developer and a highly respected entrepreneur and philanthropist. He will be inducted into the College of Business Alumni Hall of Fame posthumously.
In 1998, Rendina founded the Rendina Companies, which grew to be one of the country's leading full-service medical real estate development firms. He also founded Paramount Real Estate Services, a property management company. Together, the two companies employ over 120 people and developed, constructed, leased, financed and managed more than four million square feet of medical office space and other real estate projects, totaling more than $5 billion in transactions across 30 states.
Rendina made significant gifts to Florida State University. For his support, dedication and vision, he was recognized by the FSU Presidents Club as a member of the Francis Eppes Society. A conference room in the FSU Alumni Center bears his name. He also was a lifelong member of the Seminole Boosters, hosting fundraising projects. Redina served as a featured speaker at the College of Business’ 8th Annual Real Estate Trends Conference. He also was a Charles A. Bruning Distinguished Speaker.
In 1987, prior to forming his development and management companies, Rendina co-founded a medical real estate development company that pioneered the concept of sharing ownership with physicians in the development of medical office properties.
Additionally, Rendina made a significant mark on not-for-profit and educational institutions in Florida, with an emphasis on funding programs and improvements in Palm Beach County.
In 1997, he created the Rendina Family Foundation, which continues to make generous gifts to Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital and Las Vegas-based St. Rose Dominican Hospital, among others. In Florida, Rendina served on the board of directors for Cardinal Newman High School, the Wellington Boys & Girls Club and Wellington Regional Health and Education Foundation. He also served as chairman of the Palm Beach County chapter of the American Diabetes Association's annual ball in 2004.
Over his career, Rendina received numerous honors. He was named the Entrepreneur of the Year by EY; received the Boy Scouts of America’s Distinguished Citizens Award and received the Heroes in Medicine Award from the Palm Beach County Medical Society, which in 2005 also recognized him as a Grand Contributor. The medical society created the Bruce Rendina Professional Heroes Award, which recognizes individuals who use their knowledge and abilities to improve health nationally and globally.
In 2007, Rendina was named an Ultimate CEO by the South Florida Business Journal. In 2014, he was posthumously awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by HREI Insights, which recognizes excellence and notable achievements in the healthcare real estate industry.
